PTS information
What is Non-Emergency Patient Transport?
Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (NEPTS) provide routine, pre-planned transport for patients who need to attend hospital, healthcare units and outpatient appointments and cannot make their own way there due to a medical condition which meets a specific eligibility criteria.
NEPTS also provide pre-planned transport for patients who require clinically trained staff to transport them because of their medical requirements – for example, patients requiring dialysis or patients being discharged from hospital to hospices, nursing and care homes.
The overarching principle of PTS is that patients who are eligible for transport will receive safe, timely and comfortable transport, without detriment to their medical condition.
Patient Transport Services do not include urgent (999) ambulance trips.
