HTG-UK Environmental Vision
At HTG-UK, we are committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions and leading the way in sustainable practices within the patient transport sector. Our environmental vision is built on ambitious targets, innovative strategies, and a dedication to continuous improvement.
HTG-UK is dedicated to creating a sustainable future by integrating environmental responsibility into every aspect of our operations. Our vision is to lead by example, ensuring that our commitment to the environment is reflected in our actions and partnerships.
Net Zero Targets: We aim to achieve net zero emissions for our directly controlled operations by 2040, with an 80% reduction by 2028. For emissions we can influence, our target is net zero by 2045, with an 80% reduction between 2036 and 2039
Carbon Reduction Plan: Our comprehensive Carbon Reduction Plan focuses on reducing emissions from transport, office environments, and water usage. We use sustainably sourced electricity and implement measures to minimise waste and energy consumption. Our latest Carbon Reduction Plan can be found here.
ISO:14001 Certification: HTG-UK maintains ISO:14001 certification, ensuring a systematic approach to environmental management, including pollution prevention, waste minimisation, and energy efficiency
Journey Optimisation: We utilise advanced journey routing software and experienced controllers to reduce mileage and fuel consumption. Our efforts have shown significant improvements in dispatch efficiency and vehicle utilisation.
Vehicle Efficiency: We invest in next-generation telematics and driver training to monitor and improve driving behaviour, reducing idling time and harsh driving events. Our fleet includes flexible, environmentally friendly vehicles, and we are committed to increasing the use of electric vehicles.
Fleet Electrification: HTG‑UK is phasing in electric vehicles in a careful, practical way. We use electric vehicles across all of our contracts; investing in charging facilities, whilst constantly trialling new technology. This helps us cut emissions while keeping services safe, reliable, and focused on patient care.
Reducing Unnecessary Transport: We focus on minimising aborted journeys and dead mileage through strategic station positioning and integration of advanced telematics with journey management platforms.
Influencing Stakeholders: We engage our staff, suppliers, and communities in our environmental initiatives. This includes environmental training, selecting eco-conscious suppliers, and promoting sustainable practices within our operations and partnerships.
NHS Evergreen Programme: HTG‑UK takes part in the NHS Evergreen programme, showing our commitment to sustainability. We currently meet Level 2 standards, demonstrating clear action to reduce environmental impact and support NHS net zero goals.
