Meet the Team
The HTG-UK Executive Board has over 70 years of combined experience in healthcare transport.
Our leadership team has a diverse range of expertise, including holding board-level positions at major NHS ambulance trusts, leading the ambulance response during the 2012 Olympics, and pioneering new approaches to mental health care. This varied experience guides an authentic, compassionate and relationship focused progressive approach to our transport services.
Neil Berry – CEO
Neil began his career in Patient Transport in 2013, following earlier experience in employment law and HR. Neil has been leading the Operations of HTG-UK since 2020 and been responsible for operational delivery that meets our values of exceptional patient experience combined with financial sustainability.
In his personal time, you'll find Neil spending his time with his family or watching or playing sport, from bowls to tennis.
Dr Laura Lovatt, Director of Therapeutic Services
Laura has 15 years’ experience of working in various NHS children services as a Senior Clinical Psychologist, with a focus on service development, compassionate leadership and trauma informed cultures.
She was the Founder of Therapeutic Response and is a prominent activist for Least Restrictive Practice in the mental health industry.
In her ‘spare’ time, Laura enjoys going to the gym and stomps on the beach, but as a Mum of two young boys with endless energy, if she ever gets the opportunity, she mostly likes doing absolutely nothing (preferably in the sun!!)
Heather Lee - Human Resources Director
A Strategic people leader, Heather has extensive people and culture leadership experience across a range of sectors. Heather has an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). In 2025 she was appointed as a Board Director and Trustee of the CIPD and is Board Champion for Professional Membership. She has completed the Institute of Directors Accelerated Certificate in Company Direction and has extensive NED, Chair and Trustee experience.
An active volunteer with Girlguiding, including a Brownie & Guide Leader and a Trustee of Girlguiding Anglia.
Hayden Newton, Clinical Director
Hayden Newton has a distinguished career in NHS Ambulance Services and the Independent Ambulance sector, including ten years of experience at the Chief Executive level. In 2012, he led the NHS Ambulance Service's response for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and was awarded the Queen's Ambulance Medal in 2013.
Currently, Hayden serves as the HTG-UK Board Level Accountable Officer for EPRR, embracing the responsibilities and challenges of this role. He resides in Cambridgeshire and outside of work, enjoys playing the guitar, reading, and walking.
Ed – Chief Commercial Officer
With 18 years in patient transport leadership roles, Ed leads the organisation’s commercial strategy, national growth and long term market development.
Ed brings a blend of commercial clarity, sector insight and practical experience. Before joining HTG UK, he led Starwood Consulting Ltd, a specialist advisory firm supporting healthcare logistics organisations, NHS commissioners, SEN providers and private equity investors through growth and transformation. This consulting foundation gives him a system wide perspective that shapes his leadership today.
Outside of work, Ed is a proud dad to two boys who share his love of sport—especially cricket. Much of his free time is spent on the sidelines, in the nets or cheering them on, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
Simon Hey – Operations Director
Simon Hey joined HTG-UK in September 2025, to lead operations for patient transport services across all of our NHS contracts, bringing with him extensive experience from across the NHS, NHS commissioning, and healthcare service delivery.
Prior to joining HTG UK, Simon held senior commissioning roles within NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB, including Senior Commissioning Manager and Deputy Head of Continuing Healthcare and Children and Young People’s Continuing Care. He also served as Programme Manager for the NHS Incident Control Centre during the Covid vaccination programme. Simon previously spent over ten years at Millbrook Healthcare, most recently as National Operational Support Manager.
