Mental Health Transport – Therapeutic Response

Our HTG-UK family grew in 2024 when we acquired Therapeutic Response, a market leader with expert clinical oversight in delivering therapeutic, least restrictive care to patients. Therapeutic Response started as a family-run business when its clinical founders recognised the need for a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach to mental health transport. To our knowledge, Therapeutic Response is the first and only of this kind in the UK. It is not just a transport service; it is a specialist mental health service on wheels.

Under the strategic leadership of founding owner Dr Laura Lovatt, Clinical Psychologist, we continue to progress this mission.  Our compassionate approach allows 96% of secure MH patients to travel to and from the hospital without any need for involuntary restraint.

Therapeutic Response provides transport for people aged 12 and over who are experiencing mental health difficulties or those with additional co-morbid conditions, such as a learning disability, neuro-diverse diagnosis or cognitive impairment that would indicate the need for a more secure and supportive ambulance transfer.

Our fleet includes specially modified vehicles designed to be therapeutic, safe and secure. These vehicles are discreetly branded to protect patient confidentiality and are equipped with features that allow for a comfortable and dignified journey. The interiors are designed to be low-stimuli environments, particularly beneficial for neurodiverse patients.

Therapeutic Response HTG-UK is a BILD ACT Training School, accredited to Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards. This enables us to deliver bespoke training specifically designed for Mental Health Transport. To the best of our knowledge, this distinguishes us as the only dedicated Mental Health Transport provider in England able to deliver this specialist RRN-accredited curriculum directly through its own accredited training school.
